Darkness Takes The Throne!

When we set up the inaugural Tower of Fire festival in 2024, it had always been planned to have Gabrielle De Val doing an acoustic set with her band to open.
Late in the day, Escape Music signed Remedy to release their sophomore release ‘Pleasure Beats The Pain’ and it was decided to add the Swedish rockers to the bill for their first ever UK show.
Remedy played an amazing set, and Gaby and her band hung out with the guys for a great talk after their show. Gabrielle was particularly taken with their strength, melody and power. So much so, that when it came to writing for her second solo album, ‘I Am The Hammer’, we reached out to Remedy main man Roland Forsman to write a song together. That song was ‘Princess Of Darkness, the lyrics of which Bruce Mee had written over 40 years previously, but which Rolli proceeded to give a definite Remedy feel to the music.
That song became one of the heaviest on the ‘I Am The Hammer’ album and is now shared with the fans as a new video. With artwork created by award-winning graphic designer Sebastian Kozak (Ten, Crown Of Thorns, Hugo etc), this new single should hopefully introduce fans of Remedy, and Swedish Hard Rock in general, to the delights of Gabrielle De Val.
Produced and mix by Tommy Denander, who also plays most of the instruments with Roland supplying keyboards, and mastered by Harry Hess of Harem Scarem, ‘Princess of Darkness’ is one of many highlights to be found on the ‘I Am The Hammer’ album.

When I played the Tower of Fire festival in Manchester last year, the Swedish band Remedy also played, and I fell in love with their music...they were also such great, friendly guys. Bruce asked Roland Forsman if he would like to write a song for me and sent him a set of lyrics. This song is the result and is very much in the Remedy style. It's darker and heavier than the music I normally do, but I totally love it.
