From Guest to Winner: My Rockferendum Story

A woman with long brown hair and blue streaks sits on a chair, wearing a white blouse and brown vest, set against a dark backdrop.

On 12 December 2025, I had the immense good fortune to be invited to the MariskalRock and La Heavy awards ceremony, one of those events that any Rock lover marks in red on the calendar. I attended as a guest and was delighted to have the opportunity to collect the award for Aurora Beltrán as Best Female Vocalist 2024–25, as she was unable to be there in person. It was a truly special moment.

The award forms part of the legendary Rockferendum, regarded by many as the “Oscars of Rock” in the Spanish-speaking world.

The award forms part of the legendary Rockferendum, regarded by many as the “Oscars of Rock” in the Spanish-speaking world. And with good reason: MariskalRock is one of the most influential media outlets in Spanish, with La Heavy magazine, its website and radio station standing as genuine landmarks for several generations of fans. Their reach and prestige go far beyond borders, bringing together the entire Spanish-speaking Rock community.

The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the AIE (Society of Artists and Performers) in Madrid, and the organisation was simply flawless. A beautifully crafted event, with live performances and a fun, high-energy atmosphere, where I had the chance to catch up with many friends and fellow musicians. Those moments of conversation and shared passion for music are what remind you why you once decided to dedicate your life to this.

I feel deeply moved and grateful, especially because this recognition comes from the people on the other side: the listeners of MariskalRock and the readers of La Heavy.

With all that still fresh in my mind, this morning I woke up to some incredible news: I have been voted as Best Female Vocalist in the 2025–26 Rockferendum. I must admit I wasn’t expecting it at all; it was one of those pieces of news that shakes you inside and instantly puts a huge smile on your face. I feel deeply moved and grateful, especially because this recognition comes from the people on the other side: the listeners of MariskalRock and the readers of La Heavy. Knowing that it is they who have voted for me gives this award an immeasurable value.

My heartfelt thanks go to the entire MariskalRock team for their constant support and for keeping the flame of Rock alive with such passion. I promise to live up to this gift and to give it back in the way I know best: with music, commitment and boundless enthusiasm.
