Six Stories, One Sound: Introducing Häven!

While writing and recording songs for ‘Revolution’, Gabrielle’s next solo album, it soon became apparent to Bruce Mee that some of these songs were coming out heavier than the AOR/Melodic Rock that we had previously been doing, especially those that we wrote together with Tommy Denander: there were Symphonic Rock songs, Power Metals songs and even just straight up Heavy Metal. It soon became clear not only did we have more than enough songs for ‘Revolution’, but we had two distinct groups of songs: the more Melodic Rock/AOR tracks that we have seen previously on ‘Kiss In A Dragon Night’ and ‘I Am The Hammer’, but also these heavier songs we had been doing with Tommy.

To me, the solution seemed clear. Maintain the style for Gabrielle's solo albums but create an actual band project for Häven. It had always bothered me that Gabrielle's backing band live didn’t get any recognition on her solo albums, so I wanted the guys to be part of this bigger project. And the cherry on top? Tommy was happy to join the band as well, making for quite a brilliant line-up.

  • Tommy Denander (Guitar)

  • Gustavo Martín (Guitar)

  • José Luis Gallera (Bass)

  • Isabel Fernández (Keyboards)

  • Robert van der Laar (Drums)

The song-writing for Häven is mainly Gaby and Tommy, with myself writing the lyrics. However, José recently brought ‘Skies Of Destiny’ to the party, and we fell in love with it.

However, we are absolutely ecstatic to be able to present 'The Scarlet Letter' for you to enjoy.

Gabrielle's thoughts:

“I’m genuinely moved, because Häven feels like the natural outcome of everything we’ve been building over the past year with Tommy Denander and my live band. It wasn’t planned or calculated, it simply formed on its own, shaped by the music and all the emotion we’ve shared together.”

Tommy’s thoughts:

“This grew together naturally through all the amazing and creative work we've done. I'm very happy to be involved here .”
